October 31 Satellite Feed
On Friday, October 31, at
1 p.m. EDT, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) will distribute new
DTV "Countdown" spots marking 100 days until the DTV transition. (Stations should
air these spots beginning November 10.) The feed, with a total of 4 spots in English
and Spanish, will run approximately 2 minutes. Following the new spots, we will
re-feed the English standard definition version of the half-hour DTV educational
program. *Note: this is the same half-hour program as originally fed earlier
this year. A replay of the new spots and educational program will start at 1:30 p.m. EDT.
The half-hour, standard definition feed will include:
- Fully produced
15-second "100 Days" countdown spot (air only on 11/10/08)
- Fully produced 15-second "Less Than 100 Days" countdown spot (air from
11/11 through 11/17/08)
- English versions followed by Spanish versions
- Re-air of "Countdown to DTV: Are You Ready?," the half-hour educational program in English
- Split-track audio
All spots are closed captioned.
A format

Animated 100 Day Countdown Graphics
Additionally, we
have made available for download animated countdown graphics to mark every day
of the countdown to February 17 from 100 days out – which can be used toward
FCC requirements. There are two different versions that can be used for display
during programming, including a lower-third banner or a smaller corner graphic,
each of which last approximately 15 seconds. To view and download, go to www.dtvanswers.com/countdown. (Please note that Spanish
versions of the graphics will be available on October 31.)
Please
begin the countdown by using the "Only 100 days until DTV" graphic on November
10, the "Only 99 days" graphic on November 11, and so on. Using this sequence,
the February 16 graphic will state "Only 2 days" and the February 17 graphic will
state "Less than 24 hours" or "Today." (Please note that there is no "One day until DTV" graphic.)
November 6 Webcast
NAB will also host a live DTV webcast
on November 6 at 1 p.m. EST to discuss 100 day out initiatives and what stations
need to be doing down the stretch to educate viewers about the DTV transition.
